An extensive 60-day journey through the Land Down Under has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an senior lady who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but broke off from the group for a pause. The liner left without her and returned several hours later after the ship staff discovered the passenger was unaccounted for.

A major search operation found her body the next day.
