Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the attack made him without words and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in 2020.
