It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," said Healy.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was out Australia needed 66 more at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.
